CANBERRA , Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Tennis Australia on Saturday announced that Australia will host Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group Play-off in Royal Sydney Gold Club in September.The match , that takes place from September 16-18, five days after the conclusion of U.S. Open , will be the first time a major tennis event has been held at the venue in Sydney's eastern suburbs for 10 years.In the Play-offs, Australia will play against Switzerland. Australian tennis stars Lleyton Hewitt and Bernard Tomic are set to lead the Australian challenge, but Swiss Roger Federer said he may be unable to commit to the tournament due to little recovery time from the U.S. Open.Australian Tennis Team Captain Pat Rafter said he is looking forward to the encounter , which will see the winners of the playoffs to advance to the 2012 World Group, and losers will play in their respective Zonal Regions."Our team is excited about having a home tie and taking on Switzerland," Rafter said in a statement on Saturday."Our priority is to get back in the World Group and we are doing everything we can to achieve this."It will be great to take on the Swiss on the historic grass courts of Royal Sydney in front of what we hope will be a noisy home crowd."New South Wales State Premier Barry O' Farrell welcomed the news , saying that the David Cup is an iconic event in world tennis , and holds a special place in Australian tennis and sporting history.Royal Sydney last played host to a major tennis event in 2001.Related Topics Articles：
