Rivera disclosed his medical situation at Tuesday at a Thanksgiving charity event where he spoke quietly

"I thought it was a little simple thing and I went to the doctor and she said they might have to do something. I think they have to scrape them."
He said he doesn't know the cause of his condition. He will see the doctor again Monday when it could be determined whether an operation is necessary.
