NASHVILLE, Dec. 19 (UPI) -- Rascal Flatts bassist Jay DeMarcus has announced the birth of his first child
, a girl, in Nashville.
DeMarcus said his daughter, Madeline Leigh, and wife, Allison
, "are doing well," "Access Hollywood" reported.
The baby was born shortly before 5 p.m. Friday and weighed 6 pounds, 9 ounces
, the TV news magazine said.
"Allison and I are thrilled
!" DeMarcus said. "Madeline is absolutely gorgeous; she looks just like her daddy
! Both mom and baby are doing well."
DeMarcus said he is "kissing her little face off."
Rascal Flatts lead singer and fellow father Gary LeVox had some advice for the new dad
, DeMarcus said.
"Gary told me to strap in and hold on for the wildest ride of my life
," DeMarcus said. "I didn't get much sleep last night. I kept waking up and thinking
, 'Oh my gosh, I'm a father
