Maldivian riot victim dies in Sri Lanka
COLOMBO , Sept. 22 (Xinhuanet) -- One of the first three Maldivian riot victims airlifted to the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo on Sunday evening has succumbed to his injuries , hospital sources said Monday. 　　He sustained injury in the civil unrest which took place on Saturday in the Maldivian capital of Male. 　　Nine more riot victims were flown to Colombo on Monday , bringing to 12 the total of those who have been flown here for medical treatment in several private hospitals. 　　Riots took place in Male on Saturday when the news of the death of two prisoners in the Maafushi prison on another island , 45 minutes away by boat from Male , reached the capital. 　　Mobs who gathered on the streets in Male threw projectiles towards government buildings and set fire to several vehicles , which forced the police to fire tear gas to dispel the mobs. 　　A curfew was imposed in Male from Saturday night to early hours of Sunday.
