Chinese art works highlight NYC Asia Week

NEW YORK fake oakley sunglasses, March 16 (Xinhua) -- Chinese ceramics and works of art were on spotlight as New York Asia Week kicked off on Friday to promote and celebrate the remarkable realm of Asian art, antiques and design.

Sotheby's New York presents Fine Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art as part of the Asia Week series of auctions. It includes a wide selection of ceramics, jades and furniture including a number of imperial works, expected to bring 11.9 million U.S. dollars to 16.8 million U.S. dollars.

For the first time, 163 pieces of fine classical Chinese paintings and calligraphy dating from the 12th century to the 20th century have joined Sotheby's Asia Week auction. Among them, an ink scroll ``Eagle Perching on the Pine'' by Qi Baishi is the priciest lot of Asia Week auctions, which is expected to bring 1.2 million U.S. dollars to 1.5 million U.S. dollars.

"People admire Chinese art and culture very deeply," Henry Howard-Sneyd, Sotheby's Vice Chairman of Asian Art, Americas, told Xinhua, adding that the Chinese paintings auction this year will achieve great sales.

Asia Week New York 2012, which runs from March 16 to March 24, will exhibit the rarest and finest examples of Asian porcelain, jewelry, paintings, ceramics, sculpture, books, bronzes in five auction houses replica oakley sunglasses, 17 museums and cultural institutions throughout the city.
