6 Fascinating Facts About Perfume
6 Fascinating Facts About Perfume So you may be wondering why I am in France. I actually have the folks at Axe to thank--they've flown a few beauty writers over here to tell us all about how they develop their fragrances. And the steps behind Axe is no joke--they use more than one major perfume house to come up with their complex body sprays. And this week they took us to two of those perfumeries (International Flavors & Fragrances and Firmenich) along with fragrance designer Anne Gottlieb to learn a little more about it all. Here were 6 little bits of trivia I jotted down: * AT IFF's Perfumery School Tod's calzature, perfumers get 5 to 7 years of training to hone their craft. * Your sense of smell is like a muscle--the more you use it Manolo blahnik sko, the stronger and more discerning your nose becomes. * For many years the hot ingredient in perfume was civet belstaff taschen, an oil from the sex glands of a particular type of cat. * One of the best places to put your scent? Gottleib loves dotting it on her temples. That way when someone goes in to kiss her cheek hello the north face hoodie, they get a lovely whiff. * If you're doing a lot of perfume sniffing all at once and need to cleanse your nasal passages between scents mulberry salg, taking a deep sniff of your arm skin (in a spot without perfume nike free run norge, of course) will do the trick. * Ever notice that scents smell different on different people? Well, perfumers say that's because your body chemistry can "push" certain notes in the fragrance thanks to genetics or what you've been eating. All pretty interesting no? Anyone know what scents they tend to "push"? Have you ever heard of civet before (I hadn't!)? Go spend some time in the comments. Looking for more fragrance fun?
